Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 Gets an Update

Despite the fact that the device has yet to be released in the UK, the XPERIA X2 is still being supported by Sony Ericsson.

According to reports, a new update will be bringing over Windows Mobile 6.5.2 to the smart phone as well as the addition of new features of the XPERIA OS. The Panels system will be updated, as well as the rotating graphic user interface. The Dialer has also been updated to make navigating the device’s contacts list a lot easier. The last part of the add-on includes some interesting new features such as an FM radio, video calling, auto lock and a more efficient GPS lock.

Folks hoping to get the newer Windows Mobile 6.5.3 Maldives update will have to wait for May.

If importing the XPERIA X2 is not something that you are inclined to do, you might prefer to get the XPERIA X10. It is an Android device, but many would prefer that operating system over the WinMo OS. According to reports, an update to version 2.0 of the Android will be made available soon –quite important considering that the X10 only comes with version 1.6 Donut.

The X10 has an 8 mega pixel snapper, a 4 inch capacitive touch screen display and a 1GHz Snapdragon processor. The device made its debut last February at the Mobile World Congress and is now available on various contracts on Vodafone, Orange and T-Mobile.

For those looking for a slightly cheaper SE device, the X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro smart phones are going to be in stock in the UK by sometime this May. Both devices share similar specifications with the Mini Pro having an extra feature: a slide out QWERTY keyboard.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X3. One-two-wahoo

A Google Android sporting, Qualcomm 1ghs processor boasting, 8MP camera flaunting, Wifi’ing, GPS’ing, HSDPA’ing, 4-inch touchscreening phone is on its way in the form of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X3 and we’re very excited indeed. In the past, announcements of new Sony Ericsson phones have always prompted a pretty uniform response from us here. Something normally along the lines of: Mneh. Or: ‘k. Because as good looking and feature packed as many of them have been they’ve been consistently let down by simply two things that SE have now (finally!) addressed. And these, drum roll please, are:

1 – Proprietary technologies. In the past: Sony’s own brand of memory cards and headphones could be plugged into their handsets. The Sony Ericsson xperia X3 lets you use microSD cards and plug whatever the hell you want into the 3.5mm jack socket.

2 – Windows Mobile. The X3 is going to be SE’s first ever Google Android phone. And they’ve re-skinned it to look absolutely even more delicious than it already way. (See the video below). Yum

And in one fell swoop… or two swoops, actually, they’ve fixed. Whoop! So we just can’t wait for this thing to be released. There’s a Sony Ericsson Xperia X3 review to look at, or these Sony Ericsson Xperia X3 deals to peruse in the meantime, but annoyingly there’s no actual release date for the thing yet. We’ll pin our ears back and keep you posted though…

Sony Ericsson Aino. A + B = C

Sony Ericsson, Uncategorized / No Comments

With more media apps than your average media-friendly phone, the Aino has been turning heads since its recent announcement. It’s not due out here for a few months yet, but we thought we’d drop a little preview your way. Because we’re kind like that.

The first thing to say as warning though is that, if you don’t have Playstation 3, you might not get as much out of this phone as would make it worthwhile keep tabs on. If you do, however, have a PS3, then this could be about the best choice you’ve ever made. And here’s a few very important reasons why:

  • Remote Play – You know all that music, all those photos, and all that other guff you’ve got saved onto the vaguely generous PS3 of yours? Well, now you can access it all directly using the Sony Ericsson Aino. That’s right, whether you’re at home and hooked up to the computer via a local network, or hanging out with some monkeys in a jungle in Cambodia, you can now access all the stuff saved on your PS3 on your phone. As long as that jungle has decent Wi-Fi, of course.
  • PlayTVservice – All those certain free TV channels you can watch via your PS3?… Yep, you guessed it, these can now be streamed straight through the ickle screen on the Aino. So now you can watch Neighbours with all those monkeys. They won’t know what they’ve been missing.
  • Media Home – Something for everyone here – a way of Synchronising your PC (not just your PS3) with your phone to make sure you’ve everything you want with you, whichever jungle you find yourself in.
  • Media Go – A nifty way to watch and organise all your home computer media files using the Aino as some kind of touchscreen remote control.

So, a bit of simple maths to finish. PS3 + Aino = A very happy you. Not got a PS3, then this might be one to avoid, as even though it’s got as much going for it as any other smartphone, it’s bulkier than most out there, and the screen’s not quite as big or impressive as some of those Samsung’s that have been hitting the news recently. Read a fuller Sony Ericsson Aino review here, or spend a couple of minutes in the company of this video for more of a sense of what this thing can do.

C901 Filippa Cybershot

Posted by admin on March 16, 2009
C-Series, Sony Ericsson / No Comments

The ability to choose from a wide variety of mobile phone contractsis just one of the many exciting benefits associated with the soon-to-be-released digital camera cell phone Sony Ericsson C901 Filippa Cybershot.
Sony products keep getting better and better over the years, and the C901 Filippa Cybershot will hopefully deliver all it promises when released in April. Unlike past camera cell phone models, the Sony Ericsson C901 Filippa Cybershot will have a 5 megapixel digital camera. In addition, the phone will feature an auto-focus function and a flash.
Considering the high resolution of pictures taken with the Sony Ericsson C901 Filippa Cybershot, I think it will be a good deal as long as this phone is not expensive. It also comes with Bluetooth functions, which allows people to talk on their cell phones through a small headset rather than pressing the phone to their ear. This is important for those who do a lot of driving and talking at the same time.
The Sony Ericsson C901 Filippa Cybershot is scheduled for an April release and will have three color choices: Noble Black, Sincere Silver, and Precious Peach. Personally, I think the black and silver phones look better. Pictures of the Precious Peach phone just do not look very appealing.
With even most phones and digital cameras having less than 5 megapixels, I think buying a Sony Ericsson C901 Filippa Cybershot is likely to be a good deal as long as it doesn’t cost hundreds of pounds. In addition, the fact that it is not necessary to choose a particular cell phone company or expensive data or minutes plan makes this particularly appealing to those on a basic monthly budget. Whether this will also apply to those customers seeking prepaid plans remains to be seen.
