Sony Ericsson Jalou. S*xism

Sexist. It’s not a term that should be thrown around lightly these days. Least of all because it throws off search engines quicker than a vicar shakes off his vestments at the end of a hard day’s choir practising.

But before this blog gets permanently struck off Google and banished to the Internet Siberia reserved for such things, we want to state that the Sony Ericsson Jalou – or at least the marketing guff that’s being populated around it – is 100%, unadulterated sexist tosh. Simple as that.

Why can we say this with such certainty? Well, read these extracts from the press release and other promotional materials released along with the Sony Ericsson Jalou.

“Packed with unique features and encased in a beautiful facet-cut jewel form, it is a stylish addition to any handbag….”

“Sony Ericsson’s latest style statement is only 73mm long – shorter than your favourite lipstick…”

“Never mind a signature necklace or oversized shades; Jalou is the perfect accessory…”

Absolute gold dust. Now, you might not see it yourself. Fair enough, but there’s probably a reason for that, and that reason is that you ain’t a chick. Show this to a female and see what her reaction is. Then ask her if she’d ever consider buying this phone. Then laugh at the colourful language of her response.

All of which is a bit of a shame, really, because it’s not – as this Sony Ericsson Jalou review shows – as if the Jalou is a bad phone. It’s not a great phone, far from it, but if you like things that look a little bit different, or just want a dinky little phone that does the basics well, then this could be just what you need.

What you don’t need is a bunch of male marketing goons fresh out of Rugby club at Bristol uni telling you that all you’re interested in is handbags, lipstick, shopping and how you look. Not convinced this is the case? Just look at the travesty that is the video below.

Now if you would excuse us, we have to go and burns some bras… Wait, that’s another word that’s going to make Google hate us. God damn it…

Sony Ericsson Aino-Stylish and efficient!

Sony Ericsson AinoThe Sony Ericsson Aino is one of the new camera phones to hit the market sometime in the fourth quarter of this year. With its full touch screen and advanced media capabilities, there is no reason why this phone should not be a huge success. The hardware of the Sony Ericsson Aino feels pretty solid. The only downside is its weight and bulkiness, which might put some people off as this makes the phone difficult to stash away in a small space.

The Sony Ericsson Aino has an expandable onboard memory which is perfect if you want to store a media library. The 16MB should be enough for you to store all your music, with a couple of videos as well! The media player can play a decent range of file formats ranging from MP3’s and AAC to even WMA as well as a couple of video formats. The impressive range of connectivity options including class 10 GPRS, HSCSD and Wi-Fi. These options are really useful as you can download files off the internet directly to your phone. Out of all these features, the best is the 8.1 MP cameras that the phone comes with. This is one of the bbest cameras in the mid range phone market as it comes with autofocus and an LED flash. Lack of a basic xenon flash has been quite a criticism as a top class camera should have come with it. This surprising exclusion by Sony Ericsson has been quite surprising as they have incorporated the xenon flash in phones that came before this one. To top off all the media features, the Sony Ericsson Aino also has an FM radio tuner with RDS. This allows you to get information about what you are listening to directly from the radio station itself.

Be sure to check out the many Sony Ericsson Aino deals online. Sites like Mobile Deals Compared can be helpful in saving money when looking for a new phone as they compare the many deals on offer from major retailers.

A Cool Fashion Phone to Match a Designer Handbag

Sony Ericsson JalouFirst off, this is the first Sony Ericsson handset that has more angles to its body than curves.  Yet many find it sexy enough to get into a beeline come end of August when Sony Ericsson starts to release it in the markets.  To be sure, the Jalou has got stunning looks to make it as one of the best looking fashion phone out there.  Who says you need to shows curves to be beautiful?  But is it worth getting one as a mobile phone?

Modesty behind a Great Looker

Sporting a run-of-the-mill 3.2 megapixel camera won’t get you noticed these days.  Neither would an RDS stereo FM radio, Bluetooth with A2DP, 3G or just about any of the mundane features of versatile smartphones we’ve taken for granted.  The Sony Ericsson Jalou is your highly capable regular Sony Ericsson mobile phone in exquisitely styled casing.

There’s a couple of standout features though worth mentioning.  One is its 2.2: QVGA LCD display that with touch of a key becomes a compact mirror.  Nice touch for a fashion phone.  It doesn’t help that its small size can easily be confused with a compact make-up. Then there’s a pioneering touch to make it the first Sony Ericsson handset to sport the WalkMate – a pedometer to count your steps if you want to use it when walking.  But when you think that the women most likely to use a Sony Ericsson Jalou would be wearing high heeled Bruno Magli shoes, you get to wonder how really useful a pedometer is.

Dole & Gabbana dresses it up

It’s not enough you have a great looker of a fashion phone.  There’s a Sony Ericsson Jalou limited edition phone with the famous D&G signature on it and real 24k gold trims on a special rose-coloured body.   It won’t come cheap, of course.  Expect both editions to arrive during the last quarter of the year.  Though we’re hopeful they will late August.
